The Big Bear/Little Bear program at Buckalew is aimed at connecting families who are new to the school with an existing Buckalew family in order to make their transition an easier one. When the new family registers at Buckalew, they will receive a PTO Welcome Folder from the registrar which will contain a welcome letter, the PTO calendar, the PTO Board information, the PTO website and information for registering on PTO Volunteer Manager and other pertinent school information. When a Little Bear is matched with a Big Bear, the Big Bear will do such things as inviting the new family to the next PTO event, offer to be their emergency contact, help them with recommendations in areas such as health care providers, children's sports activities and any other items they may need help with regarding the community and Buckalew.
